Our take on the Samsung Galaxy M20:

Design Aspects:

There was not much expectations from the Samsung budget lines up like the J series or ON series from the past, but this particular phone looks good and promising. When it comes to the looks I will prefer the Redmi Note’s premium glass design than the glossy plastic design unless it is functional which here is Yes. The USB C port, Headphone Jack and dedicated memory card slot are hard to find at this price range. The fingerprint scanner is placed awkwardly which is annoying at times and out of my reach. Tough it’s a TFT display it is amazing and eye catching, the viewing angles are also great, having said that it is not one of the brightest displays which is known by Samsung.

Performance and Speed:

Tough the geekbench score for the Galaxy M20 do not match up with the Smapdragon 660 or 636 but the phone is fine when it comes to day to day tasks but surely lags a little while heavy gaming and graphic usage, which according to is not too bad. Better to play games like PUBG on a lower graphics settings. Phone gets warm but I do not see any heating issues. The phones performance can be rated as average. The Samsung Experience UI v9.5 is not the best in the market and gives low performance definitely miss the stock Andriod feel, having said that the fast face unlock and gestures is where the UI out shines.

Camera Performance:

The overall camera performance is decent and is comparable to the other budget phones. The low light photos at times are good and at times average. The wide angle lens took some good images and is a delight to have. The portrait mode is good and I really like it. The video is good and can be taken at 1080p at 30 fps, comparing the videos of Redmi Note 7 this phone is little on down side. Overall it has a decent camera at this particular price point which is not at all disappointing. The selfie camera is also average and takes average photos.

Battery Performance:

The one aspect where Galaxy M20 outshines is in the Battery area. With the extensive usage the battery remains to 50% at the end of the day which is outstanding and the 15W fast charging capacity is an icing on the cake charges from 10 -100% in approx. 2hrs.

Eva’s Verdict:

This is an good improvement and a big step by Samsung tough it’s a long way to go. I can say you can buy this phone as it is value for money. Having said that if you are in no hurry then wait for the Redmi Note 7 which is a bit better option than Galaxy M20.
